This Donald Trump thing has been going on for quite some time now, hasn’t it? Back in 2017 I did a survey of past times of turmoil in US history. My conclusion was that folks in Trump’s first administration were blowing things out of proportion. Do I still feel the same way today? Not so much. We’ve been in worse places on some metrics, but our situation today can no longer be explained away. Check out today’s video for my detailed analysis.

We don’t hear much about Taiwan semiconductors anymore. This often happens in national security circles. The point is to make you scared, not to make any meaningful changes to the strategic vulnerability that is claimed to have been identified. Solving this problem would be counter-productive. It’s declining importance means I’ll probably never do a produced video talking about Taiwan chips, so I thought it made sense to throw together an unproduced version. I hope you find it useful.

The return of produced videos! This video on the parallels between Trumpian and Turkish government is a bit of an experiment. It’s got a bit of half-formed ranting, but it’s also got some carefully put together and animated critique of media consolidation. I think it works. Do you? I’ve been enjoying stumbling towards new formats for my video production, and I think this is a sort of a step forward. There’s so much enough happening that I need to find new ways to speed up production while maintaining quality. Let me know what you think.

This one was interesting. I had an idea for a couple historical comparison videos in light of Trump’s second term and the assassination of Charlie Kirk. My typical practice is to then spend months or weeks developing them before publishing a finished product. But I have too many of those projects already. So I figured I should just push this one and next week’s videos out in unproduced form without too much introspection or overthinking. It’s not as produced as I might like, but the ideas are out there. What do you think?

The United States is on the verge of making a catastrophically bad decision on Israel and Iran. The question currently posed is inadequate. People are warring over whether we should go whole hog and help Israel destroy Iran entirely, or if we should merely continue to pay billions to defend Israel from the consequences of its actions. This is a very limited conversation. With this un-produced video, I attempt to expand the conversation a bit more, by looking at what Israel is doing in Syria. A lot more is at stake than the exchange of missiles between a couple of really unattractive governments.
